Q:
Clinic colonics or at-home colema boards?
Hello,
I am very interested in doing colon
hydrotherapy as I've been doing a ton of research on colon health in the past
week. However, during this research I came across the excerpt below. Before I
make the final decision in whether I want to do my cleaning at home or at a
center, can you please address the following statement?
Thank You
E.M.
"... The cleaner the colon, the more water can
enter, and the longer you'll be able to retain the water within the colon.
During each session water naturally flows in and out of the colon, directed by
the forces of gravity and obstructions in the colon. You lay comfortably on your
colenema board throughout the session. There is no need to get off the board to
eliminate. Water flows in and out between 8-15 times per 30 minute session. On a
good colenema board with the appropriate guidance and supervision, the whole
process is simple, quick and easy. On a bad board and alone with no one to turn
to - it can be a nightmare. If you are unwilling to administer your own
colenema's at home, and since your doctor will not, or cannot administer them
for you, you will have to find a colonic clinic. Clinics generally administer
pump-powered colonic irrigation's, which require careful supervision from a
trained therapist. Due to our modern lifestyles and incorrect eating habits,
stress, pollution, medication, etc., you will need to do at least once a year a
thorough cleansing of your colon. Twelve visits to the clinic are the minimum
required to cleanse the colon. A session can cost between US$80-150, depending
on your locality. Pump powered colonic irrigation's do nothing to remove the
accumulated mucus, rubbish and toxic debris collection in your small intestines
http://www.hps-online.com/more_samples.htm, which are 21-26 feet in
length (versus 4.7-6 feet for the colon). That means no benefit derives to your
digestive system, and the ability of your body to assimilate nutrients in the
food and effectively build new tissue. In short, colonics alone are not what
bring about rejuvenation and healing.
Furthermore, colonic irrigation's at a clinic do nothing towards educating you
on the primary causes of the toxic buildup in the first place... so you find
neither the motivation, nor the energy to change old habits and sustain new
lifestyle changes. You're left out in limbo hanging from branch.
You also might find that whatever changes you actually do succeed in making in
dietary and lifestyle habits, might not easily integrate into your overall
health and rejuvenation strategies - because basically no strategy or long term
supervised program is developed by the clinic for you to adhere to once the
irrigation's are finished.
The benefits of a quick fix at a colonic clinic just don't stack up for you. If
you start cleansing at your convenience, in the privacy and comfort of your own
home, you can expect a long healthy life. A colenema board may be used for life
by the whole family in the convenience, comfort, safety and privacy of your
home. It works entirely by gravity, not pumps, and is completely safe to use
alone."

Linda's response:
I'll try and answer the items in order.
- The colon is 5 1/2 feet long and holds
approximately a gallon of water during a colonic or a colema cleansing. Even
if clean or dirty it holds about the same amount of water. One thing it does
do better once clean, is absorb the nutrients better from our foods.
- Everyone I know is MORE comfortable on a
large massage table during a colonic than sitting bunched up over the toilet
on a chair with your feet against the wall over the back of the toilet during
a colema. The water washes in and out using gravity about 5-10 times during
each colonic, and ALL of the matter flows gently down a tube connected to the
sewer, not around a pencil like tube that stays inside of you and the material
releases into the toilet below you. You do not get off the colonic table to
eliminate.
- I have had clients say they have overfilled
themselves with water if hard stool gets stuck at the top of the small tip and
won't release readily. They then feel very full and bloated and have to remove
the small tube to release directly into the toilet. No matter gets stuck with
a colonic, it all flows down the center of the tube directly into the sewer
line.
- My (colonic hydrotherapy) system is NOT a
"pump-powered" system, it is gravity flow. This is the ORIGINAL system
perfected as a professional system, before electricity was common. A perfectly
trained therapist stays in the room with you at all times, helps you to feel
covered and safe.
- We recommend 3-4 colonics close together
(2-3 days) and then once/month to maintain your health and benefit you the
most. Our sessions are 35-40 minutes each and cost $75.00. Each session
removes about 2-3 years of old undigested matter, mucus and toxins. Using this
formula, you can calculate about how many colonics that you may need.
- NO system--colema or colonic--removes
material from the SMALL intestine. That must be accomplished by eating
properly, which we help you do, and by
drinking enough water. The rule
of thumb is 1/2 your body weight (in ounces) every day of good purified
water or herbal tea.
- My center has been in business since 1986
and we have over 6,000 active clients that can
attest that we have changed
their lives for the better. Completely changed their energy level, sleeping
habits, digestion, skin and much more. Colonics, along with dietary changes,
DO bring about "rejuvenation and healing".
- During the 35-40 minutes that you spend on a
colonic table the therapist discusses your current eating habits, what your
health goals are, and helps you to change your habits to accomplish these
goals. We offer no "quick fixes".
- A colema board is difficult to clean and
most of my clients that had a colema board do not want to use them and come in
for a colonic once/mo to stay healthy.
I hope these responses help you to understand
the differences between a colema and a professional colonic. Please call us
if you have any additional questions.
Sincerely,
Linda
